The husks and nuts are fed into the machine at a steady rate and pass though a series of rollers which have different surface speeds causing the husks to rub open. The rollers are adjustable for clearance and have a deformable surface so as to not damage the nuts.
In the basic model the nuts and husks are ejected from the machine into a pile to be sorted. Other models shown in this section have loading elevators and air leg trash separators.
